We hope to have the following litter due early in October 2010

Blaze (Ch Abderus Blazing Chaos) X Alfie  (Glendavan Socrates)

Usual and sorrel expected, with a chance of  blue and fawn

Day 1:

Rosa has given birth to five healthy kittens; a usual girl, blue boy, blue girl, fawn boy and fawn girl. A real mix of sexes and colours, and for once not a sorrel in sight. (If you look at her past litters she has a tendency to defy the odds of genetics and produce LOTS of sorrel kittens!). Of course, the absence of a sorrel this time is a bit of a disappointment as it would be a true 'rainbow' litter with one included. As usual the births went without a hitch and all five arrived safe and sound in just under two hours.

Week 1:

As usual it took Rosa a couple of days to settle into the job of being a mum. Having five kittens to care for is no mean feat. However, she soon got into the swing of things and is being her usual attentive self. The two fawn kittens, born last and smaller than their siblings, were losing out a bit at feeding time, so I have been topping up their feeds with formula milk. It was only necessary for a few days though and they are now doing as well as the others.

Week 2:

It's been a fairly uneventful week for the kittens. They are all growing nicely, their eyes have opened and they are becoming more aware of their surroundings. They are already quite mobile and were walking properly, rather than dragging themselves about, when they were just over a week old.

Week 3:

The kittens kittens have come on a lot this week. They are all fairly mobile and enjoy tussling together in their nest and have even tried to escape to the outside world. As always happens when her kittens get to this stage, Rosa decided she'd like to move them herself. We're well used to this behaviour from her by now and knew that by moving the nest to another part of the room she would settle again. However, it won't be long before the kittens will need more space to explore, so the coming week will probably see a move into a room of their own.

Left to right: Blue and usual girls together, fawn girl, blue boy, fawn boy and kittens with mum.

Week 4:

There have been plenty of big changes for the kittens this week. They were becoming increasingly active so have moved into their own room where they have more space to explore. Even this doesn't seem enough for them as they are already trying to escape into the rest of the house. They are already friendly wee souls and head straight for your lap when you sit down. With a little encouragement they have all had a taste of meat, but the fawns and the blue girl seem to much prefer biscuits, and quite happily tuck in. Surprisingly, they don't appear in need of their litter trays yet, but the litter training will probably happen in the coming week.

Left to right:Kittens together, usual girl relaxing, blue boy, a very hungry fawn boy!

Week 5:

It's been quite a week for the kittens. They have all become much more adventurous and are keen to be out exploring the rest of the house. Often they don't have much choice as Rosa will bring them out of their room when she feels they need some exercise. They have met the dog and the other cats, who have all evoked mixed reactions in the kittens! They are eating solid food now and use their litter trays religiously. They must hold the record for fewest 'accidents': just one between all five of them! They all now have their proper pedigree names, which are listed at the top of the page.

Left to right: Aleandria goes climbing, sleepy Fawntasmagorical, Saffyre, Hermione and Azureal.

Week 6:

The kittens have had a relatively uneventful week, spending their time eating, sleeping and playing. They are becoming increasingly independent of their mum and are now well established in the rest of the house. It was time for their first course of wormer early in the week, which didn't go down well at all!

Left to right: Azureal, a fawn fight, sleepy Aleandria, cute kittens.

Week 7:

The kittens have been up to all sorts of mischief this week. This morning I went into the kitten room to find absolute carnage. Rosa had pushed a kitchen roll off the chest of drawers onto the floor. The kittens had much fun shredding it into lots of pieces and throwing them around the room along with lots of cat litter. What a mess! The usual girl (Aleandria) has finally started to tuck into meat with gusto, though the lack of solid food never seemed to affect her energy levels.

Left to right: Azureal, Aleandria, Fawntasmagorical,  Saffyre and Hermione.

All our kittens are raised as part of the family, will be well socialised and used to other cats and dogs and the everyday hustle and bustle of home life when they go to their new homes. They will be ready to leave us after they are 14 weeks of age and have been neutered. They will also have been vet checked, wormed and fully vaccinated for flu, enteritis and feline leukaemia virus (FeLV). They come with a kitten care pack, a full pedigree, 4 weeks Pet Plan insurance, and will be registered with the GCCF. If you are interested in showing please mention it when you enquire so that I can hopefully find you something suitable.
